Is Carpet Replacement Really a Cost-Effective Way to Help Me Sell My House?

The short answer is, Yes. Some experts estimate that it can add as
much as 10% to the value of your home! How is that possible?
Well, let’s say a potential buyer comes into a home and sees a worn
and/or dirty carpet. What’s their first reaction? Probably, it’s, Oh,
man, now there’s an expense I don’t need. What else will cost me
money if I buy this home?

Within five seconds, you’ve lost a buyer. Or you’ve got one who’s
going to negotiate hard to get the price down on every item he or she
thinks should be fixed or replaced.

Yes, this is expensive, but it
actually has the potential to get you a higher sale price and, thus,
replacement may actually make you money or, at a minimum, be a
wash.

In a best case scenario, $3,000 investment in new carpet can make a
$10,000 difference in the sale price! In other words, by investing
$3,000 in a new carpet, you may end up adding $7,000 to the value of
your home!

Bottom Line: Replace that carpet and increase your chances
for a maximum sale price.
